Confidence Poems

Here are a few good confidence poems

for when you need a little bit of encouragement to keep on going and to never stop dreaming.

Don't Quit

By Edgar A. Guest (1881-1959)

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won, had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

Every Day Gets Better

Say this little rhyme to yourself three times, three times a day, (while looking in a mirror is best):

Every day, and in every way, I am getting better and better.

Emile Coue wrote this back in the early 1900's. He says that if you follow the instructions that your life will dramatically change for the better. As he says, "Our subconscious is entirely reprogrammable by this simple positive sentence." It puts your imagination into gear and it starts your subconscious believing that things really will go better and then because you have this belief, your life just naturally does get better and better. There's numerous testimonials that it does work. Give it a try, it's easy to do and the words are easy to remember. The added benefit of doing this is it'll put you in a good mood.

The Optimists Creed

by Christian D. Larson - 1912 from The Secret

I Promise Myself
To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person I meet.
To make all my friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything, and make my optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature I meet.
To give so much time to improving myself that I have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words, but in great deeds.
To live in the faith that the whole world is on my side, so long as I am true to the best that is in me.

Desiderata

Max Ehrmann (1872 to 1945), poem written in the 1920's
Desiderata is Latin for "desired things"

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Keep on Perspiring
Submitted Tue Aug 23, 2011
By: Adeyemi Akin, Lagos, Nigeria

For you to acquire what you admire and desire,
you should look out for thoughts inspiring
flash through your mind from time to time
Inspiration comes, follow it up with aspiration,
Aspire to be what you want to be and See yourself becoming that person
At leisure time, act like the person you admire and desire to be in all positive ways possible.
Allow not distraction, and whichever challenge you face, you can overcome it, no matter how great.
Get fired by perspiration, genius is one per cent inspiration
and ninety-nine perspiration.
Therefore acquire what you desire in life, by perspiring.
but should you get tired, just do one thing, refire, and always remember to keep on perspiring.

You Hold The Future In Your Heart
Submitted Fri Nov 19 2010
By: Gina Jo Kraus, CCP, Trinity, Florida

Do you know? Do you believe? Do you see?
You hold the future in your heart.

It's ALL in YOU!

YOU are the majik of tomorrow.
The truth in you is your perfection.
Fulfill your dreams without exception.
See it, believe it, feel it with your heart.

Do you know? Do you believe? Do you see?
We are here to live, laugh, love and learn.
Love ~ Respect ~ Harmony!

Follow your Inner Compass.
Let the truth in you guide your journey.

Embrace the message of each day.
See the beauty that surrounds you
and let your joy show you the way.

Choose to know, believe and see..
YOU are meant to shine.

ALL your glory lies within YOU.
You've "Got the Secret"
You hold the future in your heart.
You have the power. It's your world. For you to know, believe and see will change the course of humanity. YOU hold the future in your heart.

Rise Above It
Submitted Fri Nov 13 2009
By: Eleanor Snyder, North Carolina, USA

When you're down and out, and life looks grim
Hang on to life and get ready to swim
Up and over the rocks and boulders
To the smitten edges of lifes shoulders
To the vast and erie plains unknown
Where thoughts and visions escape from home
Soaring far into the night, intense and awesome search
There lies the answer up above on a bright and golden perch. I wrote this poem on a dull and dreary day when I was troubled about something. I cannot remember what it was but this poem lifted my spirits when I began to write. It helps me look at all the opportunities in life rather than look at the obstacles and problems. Hope you enjoy it as well.

Think About You
Submitted Tue Apr 09 2013 By: rayne, green forest arkansas

When he tells you its over accept it as a fact.
go on with your life and never look back.
he's not worth the sorrow and all of the pain,
so why live in grief when there's so much to gain?
Today is gone and tomorrows brand new
so pick up them pieces and think about you.

Loving Me
Submitted Fri Dec 16 2011
By: Hayley, MO

Days I want to cry
sometimes I don't know why
somedays I feel beautiful
most I feel ashamed
wanting to be like the other girls
have their confidence and beauty
be able to talk with guys and feel comfortable
in my own skin
but my thoughts control me
I try to ignore them
but they are so loud
repeating over and over
saying not pretty enough
not witty
not the one for them
will never be with the one you want
but with the one who wants you
and you don't want them
sad to say I sometimes agree
other times i just want to scream
forget what people think of me
and just be me
but it's harder than it looks
I have tried
honestly
but I fear so easily
I'm so sensitive
need tougher skin
why can't i truly love myself
people always say nice and wonderful things
about me
but I hardly ever believe them
or I pretend I do
please I need advice
I want to stop this
I do
Seriously
I want to love me for me

A Smile
Submitted Tue Jul 03 2012 By: zaynah, uk,wales,south wales,newport,pillgwenlly

A smile costs nothing, but gives much-
It takes but a moment, but the memory of it usually lasts forever.
None are so rich that can get along without it-
And none are so poor but that can be made rich by it.
It enriches those who receive, without making poor those who give-
It creates sunshine in the home,
Fosters good will in business,
And is the best antidote for trouble-
And yet it cannot be begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is of no value
Unless it is given away.
Some people are too busy to give you a smile-
Give them one of yours-
For the good Lord knows that no one needs a smile so badly
As he or she who has no more smiles left to give.
