Tragedy

by Shaun Best
(Beaumont, Texas)

My Poem is "Tragedy"!

It is with a heavy heart, I daily live with visible signs of regret.
I've tried desperately hard to be a valued asset.
I've been beaten from within & without, by our emotions & unsafe streets, which should have been ensured by our laws,
but who listens, since brain harmed.
Trauma can be wise, if one doesn't dwell on past, however others must ensure success by forward thinking, not demanding hateful - fear.
When one believes achieve receives success, they too can exceed limitations, as I.
Belief that I am valuable, others must see, before I am of value!
My expense is burdening (you have no idea), since no job.
Will others ever see, I was created to be of Brain Wise Saves Lives value?

Decisions

by Shaun Best
(Beaumont, TX, USA)

Decisions

Often in Life,
I deal with hated strife.
Through many ways,
but yet no one pays.
It seems so needless,
the burdnes I carry.
For in this life,
I have nothing to prosper from,
It seems so endless,
the worry I bear.
For from nothing came nothing,
but yet, I still are.
Tell me this,
Yes, I am sick!
Icling to this and that,
There is a season and a reason,
for my deliberated indecision.
Often I turn to the sky,
to look for help from the Almighty EYE!
I do not know where to go,
for I have been both here and there.
You tell me this,
am I right or wrong?

Written, also during 1992, all of my poems were written in about a 15-20 minute span in 1992 at the University of Arkansas in Monticello, during some difficult days.

Realizations

by Shaun Best
(Beaumont, TX)

Realizations

There was a boy, Who played all day.
His name was Jam, He laughed all the way.
Sometimes sad, But others glad.
Sometimes he had, But was very mad.
Until he viewed, A young man stealing a toy.
Jam spoke aloud,
Yelling come play with me, Young man.
The young man stopped on a dime,
Could he believe his ears this time?
Someone to play with at last,
Jam inquired his name.
Peanut Butter he exclaimed,
They got together, their differences caused a change.
Which was great this showed their intelligence!
Jam had found a friend,
From desiring a toy, but realized a greater joy!
Thus Peanut Butter and Jam got along just fine,
They leaned that others joys can be others toys!

Puppets on a String

by Shaun Best
(Beaumont, TX, USA)

“Puppets On a String!”

Is it a state of confusion or unlimited knowledge?
Where are we all to go?
When one is down and beat,
Why do we allow?
Many questions which have been asked before.
The common resolution is one must persevere!
There are many paths to take or not.
What is the loss, if one takes no risk!
There is a method which is sure to complete.
This approach is often ill fated.
This question remains.
What is the euphoria of the misery?
What must one do to realize their fate?
Results are so inestimable, but risk is so extraordinary!!
What will you do?
Be a puppet or a innovator like I?
"A Challenged Conquistador!"
Risk takers Can be Winners!!
LIFE IS RISK!
No Question, No Rewards!
Nothing!!

We are all subject to the desires of our mind & soul, which will win to ensure our nation is #1? If you read my other poetry, I'm focusing on all humans using their innate wisdom some consider frail to over flow the boundaries & demonstrate the greatest nation we can be; when we all come together to celebrate the entity that exist within us all to serve humanity to the best extent possible; we make everyone better; a Best!

Journey

by Shaun Best
(Beaumont, Texas)

“Journey”

Down,
Up!
What can be expected,
Not much!
If you do not jump,
We can all see limitations!
But the Master can create innovations,
Not the popular way!
But there is a way,
Nothing can be achieved,
As long, as you are deceived!
Far from this road shall I travel,
Where all my riches shall unravel!
Something can be said for uniqueness,
It creates oneness!
Often in those joyful times of youth,
I sought not the advice of elders.
But rather choose my own ways,
Which challenged with greater difficulty my days!
One can learn, but a price must be paid,
Will it be stop and listen or wish and mourn!
Life is great, but do not make this mistake,
Take your life for another's sake!

I wrote this poem in 1992, like 99% of all my poetry during the pseudobulbar affect not diagnosed nor treated until May 2018, Dr. Park, MD, 409-212-8111, then it had stopped December 2017, when physician ended wrong drugs by Arkansas doctors; used to control my thoughts over the last 38 years. I'm now living life better, with fewer drugs & more positive awareness forever!

Meaning; no limits in life, thus only you choose those that are allowed; since I was told at 12, after 3-month coma in 1977, I would never leave an institution & again face that attitude by some everyday, but my Creator made a better way: The Best Way: Believe Achieve Receive Success, like or better than Mr. Best!!

I plan to start teaching school in Beaumont, TX, according to Texas Rehabilitation Services, since Sergeant at Arms, Beaumont Toast Masters, but realize it took me 10 years after my teaching scholarship from the Arkansas Governor's Commission for People with Disabilities of 1997, before I saw a classroom with a real teaching job at the El Dorado Public Schools/SubTeachUSA 2007-09 & then Second Chance at Life in 2013. I was fired for falling down from both jobs in Arkansas. Thus it may be 3-5 years before I really see a classroom, because many do not want freedom fighters like myself, for some reason!

Success is different for all; take the chance to try!

Satan's Game

by Shaun Best
(United States)

Satan's Game

In this life,
of constant strife.
I find my mind,
in a bind.
Sometimes twisted,
in our UNGODLY SYSTEM!
The more I know, the more I fail.
With so many girls,
sex objects with fiery curls.
Though I lose,
I strive to prove.
That in this life,
we strive to gain material strife.
This we known can only go,
to burn after Satan's turn.
This I know will end,
in a fiery den.
Enough of this sin,
For it all will soon end.
In the fire of hell,
which we all dwell!

Unknown

by Shaun Best
(United States)

When I'm lost,
I pay the cost.
Of being alone,
Of something I've done wrong.
Unknown to this situation,
Is the complex alienation of others,
Yes, even my own blood brothers.
Sometimes, I seem rude,
Unknown to me is the content of my passion,
Help me discover this unknown action.
Sometimes I feel as I am a god,
A desire to help, the pleasure to destroy,
I play with people as a child with a toy.
This life I lead is an endless illusion,
Where I am in a state of confusion.
Yo, I need a friend to put unknown to an end!

Lost

by Shaun Best
(United States)

Lost

When I'm down,
I show a frown.
Then I cry,
wish I could die.
When I'm gone,
They'll sing this song.
If only I'd shown.
If I'd shown.
What it all boils down too,
is people are just like you.
They are conceded with sin,
in a battle they will never win!
If you are in this crowd?,
open your mouth and speak aloud.
For from this day you will be,
held accountable for what you do!
This sounds like both me and you!
