Having other people respect you has to start with you respecting yourself and knowing that you deserve to be treated with kindness, love and respect. I personally think that also means that your "significant" other does not have anyone else in their life. That they are committed to you and only you.
You might want to start with asking yourself why you don't think you deserve this or why you don't respect yourself.
